One of my favourite types of gifts are those for the home (and it just so happens that our junior editor Barbara shares this passion, as proven by her meticulous curation of this list). These gifts are perfect for treating yourself or a loved one. After all, why face the chaos of the holiday mall crowd when you could shop online with a cup of tea in hand and a soundtrack of festive jingles in the background?
Candles
Nothing sets the tone like lights. Whether you are opting for tall, Instagram-ready candles from Platforma or rich, fragranced options that whisper hygge, candles make any space feel inviting. Bonus points if they double as a décor statement.
Fragrances & accessoires
Add a little olfactory flair with home fragrances (psst, we have got even more options here). Supreme's incense tray is a standout — it is meditation, but, like, cool one. Think chic diffusers and trays that are as much about aesthetics as aromatics.
House plants
Artificial plants have come a long way from the sad, plastic ferns of yesteryear. Today’s faux greenery is so convincing that even your most plant-savvy friends might do a double-take. Perfect for frequent travellers, these low-maintenance beauties bring all the charm of real plants with none of the responsibility (or guilt).
Vases
Flowers fade, but a stunning vase lasts for years. From minimalist modern designs to bold, sculptural pieces, a vase is the kind of gift that keeps on giving, adding elegance to a space long after the last petal has fallen.
Tea & coffee sets
Picture a slow morning, a steaming cup of coffee in hand, and silence — blissful silence. While the fantasy might end there, a gorgeous tea or coffee set is a very real indulgence.
Coffee machines
Coffee lovers, rejoice. A stylish coffee machine is a dream gift, from retro-inspired models by Smeg to sleek, minimalist designs in timeless white. For the traditionalists, we have included old-school stovetop coffee makers — nostalgia never tasted so good.
Glasses
Why settle for standard wine glasses when you could sip from something more sculptural? Geometric glasses, with their bold lines and artful silhouettes, will make every pour feel like a celebration — even if it is just water.
Tableware
New bowls or plates are always welcome, as long as they complement the recipient’s décor. Matching your tableware to the interior creates a harmonious aesthetic, and even takeaway feels elevated.
Blankets
December dreams are made of blankets, hot chocolate, and a refusal to answer emails. While a blanket cannot shield you from responsibilities, it can cocoon you in warmth and comfort. Choose one that is soft, stylish, and ideal for evenings on the sofa.
Table books
Coffee table books are multitasking marvels: they look fantastic, spark conversations, and distract guests who arrive early. Just remember, the book’s colour scheme should complement the interior — mismatched spines are a faux pas in the design world.
Wall art
If you are looking to gift something truly impactful, wall art is the way to go. We have gathered serious collector pieces here, and affordable decorative works options are below.
Board games
Why settle for games you will shove in a cupboard when you could have board games that double as décor? Think elegant and thoughtfully designed sets that transform game night into an event and look stylish when stacked on a shelf.
