World Art Dubai: All Info In One Place

18 Apr 2024

World Art Dubai is an annual art fair held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Since its launch in 2015, it has become one of the biggest art fairs in the region, hosting over 300 exhibitors from more than 60 countries. Visitors can see over 4,000 artworks, including paintings, digital art, sculptures, and street art. The fair also features competitions, workshops, live demonstrations, and talks.
The exhibition features a diverse mix of artistic styles, from emerging artists and pop-art icons to fashion art innovators, experimental expressionists, and practitioners of fine art and photography. It is a vibrant blend of creativity and expression that showcases the rich diversity of the art world.
What is fun — the main goal of the event is to make art accessible to everyone, so here you can find artworks starting from just $100. This is basically your chance to pretend you are Peggy Guggenheim for a second.

If you are an artist or an actual Peggy Guggenheim

Interestingly, 42 per cent of World Art Dubai visitors are art collectors and VIPs, as claimed on their website. Besides, World Art Dubai collaborates with corporate buyer groups, and they strive to enhance the exposure of World Art Dubai artists and galleries not only during the event but also before and after it.

What to see?

First off, keep an eye on the WAD Award, as you may find some great talents in the nominees.
Furthermore, the 10th edition of the fair will feature a country-based pavilion, which might be very interesting, as it gives one a special glimpse of the local socio-cultural themes and patterns and by the end of the day, you may find out something new about your international friends!
Explore your options and look for various mediums, for instance sculpture (look at these clay and iron sculptures by Alessandra Aita), oil paintings (like the artwork of XiuXiu Ma, the Chinese artist living in Dubai), or even a mixed media and street art.
The main thing is to have a great time and maybe you will even purchase your first art piece, that will kick off your private collection.
