Weekend Plans: Events In the UAE On the First Weekend Of February

30 Jan 2025

The weekend is here, and with it, an all-you-can-experience buffet of culture, music, film, and shopping. Whether you are in the mood for nostalgic vinyl-hunting, an emotional cinematic journey, or an electrifying live performance, this lineup has you covered. And since February marks the last stretch of winter, it would be a shame not to embrace the breezy weather in style. So, take your pick (or better yet, do it all) — because this weekend is packed with things you will not want to miss.

Vinyl Souk x FAM

When? February 1, 1 pm to 10 pm
Where? One Central
The best way to kick off '25 in 25 hours? By taking over One Central with Vinyl Soukd x FAM Dubai. Expect a full-day takeover dedicated to the things that make life worth living: music, people, food, and a market brimming with homegrown favourites. Free entry, great vibes, and enough vinyl records to make your wallet nervous.

Reel Palestine Film Festival

When? Until February 2
Where? Cinema Akil at Alserkal Avenue
The 11th edition of Reel Palestine Film Festival is in full swing, bringing a stellar lineup of 8 feature films, 2 short film programmes, talks with filmmakers, and a souk showcasing Palestinian businesses and social enterprises. If you see just one film, make it To a Land Unknown on February 2. Screened at the Cannes Film Festival, it follows two friends, Chatila and Reda, as they navigate the underbelly of Athens, trying to escape their bleak reality — until one desperate plan changes everything.

Mgzavrebi Live In Dubai

When? February 2, 7 pm
Where? Papa Dubai
The name Mgzavrebi might twist your tongue, but their music will go straight to your soul. With a unique blend of modern beats and traditional Georgian melodies, the band uses instruments like the panduri, didgeridoo, African djembe, and Latin American cajón to craft a sound that is both nostalgic and fresh. Having sold out concerts across CIS countries, Europe, and North America, the band is now bringing their signature energy to Dubai. Their latest album has already produced hits, including Sakartveloa, which has unofficially become the anthem of the Georgian football team. Expect an evening filled with rhythm, passion, and the kind of music that lingers long after the last note.

Al Hosn Festival

When? January 25 till February 9, 4 pm to 11 pm
Where? Al Hosn, Abu Dhabi
For those who prefer their weekends with a side of history, Al Hosn Festival is the place to be. Held at Qasr Al Hosn, Abu Dhabi’s oldest and most treasured heritage site, this annual celebration is a portal into the Emirate’s past. Expect traditional souks, live performances, hands-on workshops, and an immersive showcase of Emirati customs, crafts, and cuisine. Whether you want to experience the famed hospitality, explore interactive exhibits, or simply soak in the culture, this festival is an opportunity to connect with the UAE’s rich traditions in a setting where history and modernity beautifully collide.
