UAE Cultural Digest: February 2025

1 Feb 2025

February is set to be bold, lively, and full of music, art and dance! But what else would we expect? These are the three key ingredients for a great mood and a month free from boredom! So, I would suggest planning your calendar in advance — there is plenty to look forward to! Diving into the details of the most expected events and festivals below.

Crowd Test by The Sandy Times

When? February 15, 8 pm – 4 am
Where? Helipad Dubai
The wait is over — Sandy Times Crowd Test is back! A night where music, art, and dance come together with Dubai’s stunning night views.
At the heart of it all is the music (as always). Internationally renowned DJs will be setting the tone for the night, led by ATA, the head of Frankfurt’s Live at Robert Johnson. Joining him are UAE favourites Whois Bibz and Hani J, alongside returning back Lipelis and Kito Jempere, who made the whole November's Crowd Test dancing.
No Sandy Times event is complete without its signature artistic touch. This time, The Workshop Dxb will be curating unique installations, transforming the space into an immersive visual experience.
So, mark your calendars, secure your tickets, and get ready for a night where the music does not stop.

Louvre’s Temporary Exhibition – “Kings and Queens of Africa: Forms and Figures of Power”

When? January 29 – May 25
Where? Louvre Abu Dhabi
Louvre Abu Dhabi continues its mission to showcase not only the cultural heritage of the Middle East but also the global artistic traditions. As part of this mission, the museum is presenting a new temporary exhibition dedicated to African culture — by the way, the only one of its kind in the whole Middle East.
The exhibition brings together an range of artistic expressions — from ancient artworks to the contemporary digital works. Visitors can explore over 350 pieces, spanning from the 11th to the 21st centuries, including paintings, sculptures, and multimedia installations.
So, do not miss out — this collection really worth it! Plus, the Louvre is always a great place to visit — it never gets boring, no matter how many times you have been there!

Sikka Festival

When? January 31 – February 9
Where? Al Shindagha Historic Neighbourhood
An annual festival that has already secured its spot on many must-visit lists, Sikka returns this year with an incredible lineup. Expect retail concepts, food pop-ups offering everything from Asian sushi to Turkish dolma, public art, workshops, performances, and so much more. Whether you are coming with family or friends, there is something for everyone.
With so much happening, it os impossible to list it all — just know that whatever you are looking for, you will find it there! My personal must-sees include urban art (they have the largest display in the UAE), the water art exhibition (also a first-ever), and the pottery workshop (I wanted to try it last year, but all slots were already booked).
And for sure, do not miss the special music performance by STR on February 8 at 10 pm — a DJ Long Arm is coming to Dubai to fill it with unique, atmospheric sounds — perfect way to wrap up your Saturday night.

Karak on the Dhow

When? February 22
Where? ICL Dhow, 227 Al Seef St
First things first — the location — this event is hosted aboard a dhow cruise. Have you ever found yourself lost in fascinating conversations while relaxing on a boat? If not, now is the perfect time to try!
Next up — the guests for the talks. Karak has already shared just two names, but they are enough to promise an intriguing evening ahead! Expect to see Oscar Badibanga, The Creative Director and Fashion Designer, and Gilda Gilantash Badibanga, Creative Director at Al Serkal. And lastly — expect some chilled-out music to set the perfect vibe for the night.
If you have got plans on February 22, I recommend you reschedule them, as this is one event you definitely do not want to miss. Just a quick tip — make sure to arrive on time, as the boat will set sail promptly, and there will not be another chance to hop on later!

Concerts

Where? Dubai Coca-Cola Arena & Abu Dhabi Saadiyat Island
February is set to be a great month for live music — there is something for every taste and age! The most anticipated concert, is Christina Aguilera (February 15). A voice that shaped an entire generation, which probably explains why official tickets have already sold out, leaving only resale options.
Another pop icon to look forward to is Gwen Stefani (February 22), performing on Saadiyat Island. Expect a night filled with both No Doubt classics and her solo hits.
For electronic music fans, Tiësto (February 15) is coming to the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. The Dutch DJ, who has sold over 36 million albums and headlined all the major international festivals, still has tickets available — an excellent alternative for those who missed out on Christina Aguilera.
And finally, a special bonus for the Arab world: Omar Khairat (February 1), the legendary Egyptian composer and pianist, is also performing in Abu Dhabi.

Ras Al Khaimah Art

31 January – 28 February 2025
If you do not often find yourself in Ras Al Khaimah (which, by the way, is a real shame — sun, sea, and mountains make for the perfect weekend getaway), this is the perfect reason to go.
A massive event kicks off this weekend, bringing together over 200 local and international artists for a month-long celebration of art, cinema, culture, and history, all deeply rooted in the rich heritage of the UAE.
Memory is the festival’s central theme; however, each weekend follows a unique sub-theme: Opening Weekend, Back in Time Weekend, Cultural Weekend, and Family & Pet-Friendly Weekend. So, whether you are looking for something historical and thought-provoking or light-hearted and fun, there is something for everyone. An absolute must-visit!

ICD Brookfield Place’s Cocktail Week

When? February 11–17, from 7 pm onwards
If you love food as much as music and art, here is something you will not want to miss — a Cocktail Week across some of the city’s most beloved venues: Bar Des Prés, Gattopardo, Josette, La Niña, Lulu & the Beanstalk, The Guild, and 1920.
And it is not just about great prices (though that is a bonus as well) — it is about the flavours. Expect unique and innovative twists on signature cocktails and mocktails, crafted exclusively for this event. Pre-booking is not required, but still recommended to make sure you have a table to sit.
