Karak On the Dhow, Second Edition: What Makes It Special

5 Feb 2025

You know THE KARAK — a platform for creatives where anyone from Dubai, whether you’re an artist, producer, DJ, photographer, designer, or anything in between, gets a chance to share their journey.
But when we say "platform," we don’t just mean an online media outlet. No — it is something even better.
THE KARAK brings people together in real life, hosting KARAK Conversations — a series of offline events where co-founder Faizal Razak sits down with creatives to dive into their stories. The goal? To shine a light on those who have never had — or may never have — the chance to share their voice on big media platforms. Why? No one really knows. The only thing we do know is that these creatives are truly talented and deserve to be heard.

THE KARAK moved to a new stage

…And took the conversation onto a dhow! Yes, you heard that right — THE KARAK now hosts events in a whole new setting — a cruise, sailing on the water.
The first Karak on the Dhow took place on December 21, 2024, and it was a night to remember — the first third-culture showcase aboard a traditional dhow cruise, bringing together creatives against the stunning backdrop of Dubai Creek and Al Seef.
The panel featured Maysam Faraj, Adnan, and Samer Imam, who shared stories about culture, creativity, and community. Guests got hands-on with a sailing knot-tying workshop, blending tradition with craft. Live performances from AKA KEYZ, G SALIH, and EAZ DA BULLY set the vibe, while TEEJAE, DJ KABOO, and BYMISHH kept the energy flowing with back-to-back DJ sets.

They promised to come back

…And they kept their promise. The second edition of Karak on the Dhow will take place on February 22!
Now, the guests for the talks:
— Oscar Badibanga — Co-founder & Creative Director of Badibanga
— Gilda Gilantash Badibanga — Co-founder & Chief Brand Officer of Badibanga
You will also definitely see your favourite DJs (some of whom you’ve already seen on our pages). Follow @thekarak_ for updates!
And something more — The Sandy Times is teaming up with koshta.collective to bring you a next-level art experience featuring none other than i61. It’s gonna be big. Stay tuned!
For now, just save the date and grab your tickets — because this is a night you don’t want to miss: February 22, 4 PM–11 PM; ICL Dhow, 227 Al Seef St
