Top Secret: Where To Get One Of the Best Coffees In Dubai?

25 Apr 2024

Every Dubai resident was once on a quest to find the satisfying cup of coffee that gives you a gentle slap in the morning to kick off your day. This tender roast taste combined with the milk of your choice is indeed something else.
The interesting part is, after you are through every coffee shop in the city, with its stylish interiors but without the kick, at this desperate state, you can find one of the best cups of coffee in the most unexpected place. Look where you wouldn’t, they say! And so we did.

Reveal of the best coffee place

If you are a cyclist, you may be familiar with Pedal.cc, as it is one of the local go-to places for any inquiry one might have with their bicycle.
At Pedal Cycling and Coffee, located in Manama Street, Ras Al Khor, the team is paying great attention to the coffee part of the name.
Even on their website, you can find many reviews mentioning how great their roast is!
Coffee is almost stealing the spotlight from cycling apparel. But once you will try it — you will get why.
This is one of the best cups of coffee you will find in the city.

Coffee and cycling

But okay, why here, you ask?
In modern pop culture you may see how notions of coffee and cycling are synthesised, having all these cyclists with their special V60s and other coffee tools, while bike-packing (which is backpacking, but on a bike).
Indeed, some mention the energy-boost from coffee that helps them to perform during the cycling sessions, but it all depends on one’s individual physique. So, for now this trend is mostly about pure enjoyment of the little moments one gets in life.
This trend went so far that the cycling community came up with the term “coffee rides”, which essentially means cycling from one coffee place to another, enjoying pastries and good roasts. If you will look at the image above, this is so far down the line that there is a brand that is called “La Coffee Ride”.

History of two C’s

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Italian espresso machine maker FAEMA sponsored the Faema cycling team, featuring the legendary Belgian cyclist Eddy Merckx. Merckx, often hailed as the greatest cyclist ever, won a record 11 Grand Tours (five Tours de France, five Giros d'Italia, and a Vuelta a España),during his 13-year professional career, spending two of those years with Faema from 1968 to 1970. This partnership marked one of the most iconic collaborations between a coffee company and cycling.

In 1983, the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia launched the Café de Colombia cycling team. Colombian cyclist Luis Herrera made history in 1987 by becoming the first South American to win a Vuelta a España Grand Tour while riding for this team.
Throughout the late 20th century, various coffee companies like Saeco, Segafredo, and Jittery Joe’s continued to sponsor cyclists and teams, deepening the connection between coffee and cycling. But the bond goes beyond sponsorship, cafés and espresso bars have long provided cyclists with places to socialise and rest during rides, forming an integral part of what is now known as the "coffee ride."

Pedal.cc (now you get why CC, right?)

In the end, whether you are a cyclist or not, you will definitely enjoy Pedal’s coffee in a very cute cycling scene, surrounded by cycling apparel, pictures from the Tour de France, and a gorgeous roast smell.
Once again — our secret spot to always get the best cup of coffee is Pedal Cycling and Coffee.
