June is just around the corner. And while you are probably googling "hot tours" more often than museum opening hours, let's be honest — at least a few weekends (somewhere between packing your bags and lounging by the pool) will be spent soaking up the UAE’s vibrant art and culture scene.
And there is still plenty to see, hear, and experience — so maybe hold off on that “fasten your seatbelt” moment just a bit longer. Here is your pre-vacation dose of music, art, and fun. See what is on this June!
Eid Al-Adha Celebrations
Where? UAE
When? June 6–8
One of the biggest cultural and religious events in the UAE, Eid Al-Adha brings four public holidays from June 5 to 8. It is one of the two holiest celebrations in Islam and holds deep meaning for Muslims around the world. The day is traditionally marked with special prayers and the symbolic sacrifice of livestock — goats, cows, sheep, or camels.
As always, the Dubai will light up with festive energy — think vibrant fireworks, gatherings, and that unmistakable feeling of togetherness in the air. And for those observing, special Eid prayers will take place in mosques across the country, bringing communities together.
Nadia Saikali & Her Contemporaries
Where? Sharjah, Maraya Art Centre
When? Until July 12
This exhibition is dedicated to Lebanese artist Nadia Saikali — a true pioneer in abstract art. And honestly, if you have ever struggled to explain what inspires you (because let’s face it, it is probably a mix of a hundred things), you are going to love this.
Nadia shares that she draws inspiration from astronomy, geology, philosophy, spirituality, and the natural world — all at once. Her works are rich, layered, and deeply authentic. No two pieces are alike, yet each one carries her unmistakable signature.
So if you are in the mood to really step inside an artist’s mind — to see how thoughts, feelings, and influences come to life on canvas — this is your sign to head to Sharjah.
“Everyman’s Mountain” Exhibition
Where? Dubai, Lawrie Shabibi
When? From May 31
Have you read our article about choosing your first mountain hike? If Kilimanjaro crossed your mind — you are not alone. And then this exhibition is a must for you.
Emirati artist and designer Omar Al Gurg takes us on a visual journey through a series of photographs captured during his six-day climb in 2021. His aim? To reveal the rich and complex ecological zones of Kilimanjaro — landscapes that have rarely been shown through such an intimate lens.
But this is more than just nature photography. Like all true artists, Omar looks deeper. Through his eyes, Kilimanjaro becomes a place where humans are both present and small — a reminder of how little and how much we matter in the grand scheme of things. It is a quiet, powerful documentary — and one you won't want to miss.
Contemporary Art From Korea 1960's Exhibition
Where? Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi
When? May 16–June 30 2025
Seoul — is a city we now associate with fashion, street style, and K-pop. But this exhibition tells the story of a different ciry. Or rather, a different side of it — taking us back to the 1960s, when the country was still recovering from the Korean War and stepping into an era of rapid industrialisation.
That is what makes this project so compelling. At its core is the human body — explored through themes of gender, identity, and nationhood. It is a rare chance to feel the spirit of a pivotal moment in history. To step into the mood of that time and see how deeply personal stories can mirror wider social change.
Tenté par d’autres soleils Exhibition
Where? Dubai, Tabari Artspace
When? From June 3
The works of Tunisian artist Béchir Boussandel are arriving in Dubai — and this is your sign to make time for them. As the way his pieces are created, and the stories behind them, is truly moving.
His paintings — those with soft, blurred patterns and no clear edges — are first soaked in water on the rooftop of his childhood home. And for good reason: the recurring theme in his work is the tension between the loss of roots. Only then does he begin painting with oils, layering memories onto each surface.
But in addition to the paintings, Dubai will witness something completely new — Béchir’s blown glass pieces. This fresh technique was inspired by a powerful encounter with a young Senegalese man collecting plastic bottles to fund a clandestine journey to Europe — a quiet symbol of hope and courage. Art with a soul.
Reverie by Reynier Llanes
Where? Dubai, Firetti Contemporary
When? Until June 13
This exhibition, tucked away in the heart of Alserkal, invites you to reflect on the eternal — to step into each painting and find echoes of your own life within. At the centre of Llanes’ project is the figure of the Poet: a drifting presence, journeying through memory and imagination, past and present.
He contemplates the depths of self-discovery, love, loss, and resilience — each emotion layered with its own texture and weight. And if you are looking for a quiet space to pause and feel, to immerse yourself in thought and emotion — this is the place.

Concerts
Where: Various venues across the UAE
While summer is usually a quieter season when it comes to concerts, there are still a few events worth your attention.
If you are drawn to atmospheric and oriental sounds, don't miss Abida Parveen Live (15 June, Dubai – Coca-Cola Arena). Widely known as the “Queen of Sufi Music,” she brings a spiritual, deeply moving presence to the stage.
If jazz is more your thing, Jesse Cook (June 14, Abu Dhabi – Cultural Foundation) will be performing his signature blend of flamenco, jazz, and world music. Expect soulful rhythms and genre-defying guitar mastery.
And if you are in the mood for strong beats and hip-hop energy, good news: Mary J. Blige (June 24, Dubai – Coca-Cola Arena), the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, is set to light up the stage with her powerhouse vocals and timeless hits.

And to wrap up, here are two standout shows — both short runs, but definitely worth your time:
MAMMA MIA! (Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi, 11–22 June)
The musical we all love, the film we keep rewatching, and that unbeatable summer-in-Greece vibe — it is the perfect pre-holiday mood, especially if you are heading to the islands yourself. And let’s be honest, ABBA’s timeless hits are just meant to be sung together.
Majid Razavi (Zabeel Theatre, Dubai, 21 June)
