Flour Power: Dubai’s Best Bakeries

17 Jun 2025

We have already covered the best pizza, burgers, and ice cream venues in town — but none of that quite hits the spot for that morning vibe when you are craving something sweet and salty (yes, at the same time — why not?), indulgent yet satisfying. Something that goes just as well with a morning cappuccino as it does with a lunch americano or evening green tea. That is the magic of pastries — flaky, rich, and absolutely essential at least a few times a month. So, where to find the best? Here are our top picks.

J Bakery

Where? Jumeirah 2, Beach Park Plaza
Even if you love every corner of Dubai, there are days when a wave of homesickness sneaks in — out of nowhere and always at the wrong time. My go-to cure? Find a place that feels like home.
Something like J Bakery.
Here the croissant tastes like something your grandmother would bake, the flowers on the table look like your mum just picked them from the garden, and the tea somehow warms you better than the Dubai sun.
My must-tries? The Date & Cheese Danish and the Cinnamon Craffin.
Insider tip: If your morning usually starts with avo on toast, grab their sourdough — easily one of the best in Dubai.

Bkry Space

Where? Alserkal Avenue, Warehouse 76
This is one of those rare places in Dubai where queues are almost guaranteed — but trust me, it is worth every second of the wait. The moment you take a bite, you hear that perfect crust crack, taste the salty caramel and… okay, I can tell you are already starting to drool, so I will keep it short. This place really deserves a visit.
What to try?
  • For the sweet tooth craving something salty: Salted pecan caramel croissant
  • For an Arabic twist: Zaatar croissant
  • For those who came here instead of lunch: Brisket Croissant with Tomato Jam

Bageri Form

Where? Dubai Design District (D3), Building 4
If going out for a pastry feels like a big event for you (and let’s be honest — most of us save it for a proper excuse), then choose a place that is worth it not just for the food, but for the whole vibe. That is exactly what Bageri Form delivers.
Tucked away in Dubai Design District, this Scandinavian-style bakery is perfect for winter mornings outdoors (imagine being nestled among actual cacti), or cozying up inside, where clean, minimal design meets an open kitchen that feels more like a stage. You could easily spend hours just watching the team work their magic.
Must-tries? The date croissant pudding and their signature Poached Plum Crumble.

Maha’s Bakehouse

Where? Delivery — Deliveroo, Talabat, Careem, Noonfood
At first glance, this cozy little bakery that mostly works through delivery might seem ordinary — but do not be fooled. It is very special! And what makes it special is the way they bake.
Here, every croissant takes at least two days before it reaches your plate. Why? Because they use a natural sourdough starter instead of commercial yeast, giving the dough a deeper flavor and — yes, it matters — making it easier to digest.
If you appreciate that kind of care and craft, head over and try their cheesy onion croissant for a savoury bite, or the pistachio berry for something sweet.

Flaky Pastry

Where? City Walk II, Building 6B; Vida Creek Harbour Hotel, Ground Floor
This spot could easily make the list of Dubai’s best ice cream places — and here is why: they recently launched the perfect ice cream served in a croissant cone, topped with a variety of fun extras. But do not let that steal the spotlight — their other pastries are just as impressive.
Flaky Pastry is known for its ever-creative flavor lineup, with hundreds of unique combinations. The most unexpected? Corn Royale — layered with fresh corn, silky corn cream, feta, and Parmesan. Other must-tries include the Zaatar & Labneh Croissant (my husband’s favorite) and the Baklava Croissant Triangle — yes, it comes with ice cream inside.

Birch Bakery

Where? Al Quoz Industrial 3, Hadaeq Mohammed Bin Rashid
This is the kind of pastry that might look simple at first glance — but once you cut into it, you realise it is a true masterpiece. Perfectly symmetrical, like someone used a ruler while making it, and beautifully layered (I counted 15 in just one croissant!).
And for all the strawberry lovers out there — good news! Their new strawberry specials are on the way, with fresh dough and a crisp crust. Don't forget to grab a strawberry slushie too — it is icy, refreshing, and smooth.
