Your Week In Dubai: What To Do, July 22–28

22 Jul 2025

So, the new week has started, and it is time to make some plans. The home-work-home-work routine is fine, but… we believe life can be so much more interesting. That is why every week we pick out events we genuinely love — and we would be happy if you ended up loving them too.

Tuesday, July 22. Start the week with a good movie

As always, don’t overwhelm yourself at the very start of the week. Tuesday is the perfect day to go to the cinema — and Cinema Akil is running its Summer of Classics series, which has an amazing line-up.
For example, this Tuesday at 9 pm, you can catch Dead Poets Society, starring our all-time favourite Robin Williams. He plays an English teacher at a conservative boys’ prep school, inspiring his students to embrace poetry, seize the day, and think for themselves, changing their lives forever.

Wednesday, July 23. Instruments of Viewing and Obscurity

By Wednesday, you are ready to dive into the art world. At Green Art Gallery, you can catch Instruments of Viewing and Obscurity by Nazgol Ansarinia — a fascinating exhibition that explores the architecture of Tehran through a mix of sculpture, installation, and video.
The gallery itself turns into a maze-like cityscape, playing with ideas of surveillance, public space, and the tension between seeing and being seen. Drawing inspiration from brutalist buildings and their watchful windows, Ansarinia looks at how urban design shapes our private lives and memories, inviting us to rethink where the public ends and the intimate begins in today’s cities.

Thursday, July 24. Wake up early and go cycling

…with the Jumeirah Johns Running Club. Every Thursday at 6 am, they meet up and go for a group ride. This week, they are doing up to 30 km, starting from Bikeera Cafe at Kite Beach. A great way to start your day — with some exercise, fresh air, and good company.

Friday, July 25. Please don’t stop the music

Not just on Fridays, by the way — Honeycomb Hifi has DJs and great music every night. But this Friday, Somalie is playing, and it is definitely worth checking out. Our recommendation: save the date and don’t miss it.

Saturday 26 July. SECTA X CONCRETE

Everyone who is into Secta (as we are) has probably already grabbed their tickets, but just in case you missed it — listen up: Secta is hosting its very first regional showcase, and it is a big one. Straight from Amman, Concrete, a Jordanian collective and independent label at the heart of the country’s electronic scene, is coming to Dubai, with founder Zmaili and resident Fouad Darwish behind the decks.
Where? P7, Media One Hotel
When? 9 pm–3 am

Sunday, July 27. Taking care of your mental health with pottery

Turn off your gadgets and give yourself some real self-care at Oka Ceramic Studio — they run classes all day, from morning till evening. This Sunday starts with hand-building, where you can create your own pottery pieces using just your hands and some basic tools, and wraps up with pottery on the wheel.
To book, just WhatsApp them: 0585295004.

Monday, July 28. Nothing

Who do we talk to about cancelling Mondays?
