Your Week In Dubai: What To Do, August 5–11

4 Aug 2025

Okay, it is a new week. How are you feeling? We are doing our best — trying to kick ourselves into gear, coax our brains into working, and figuring out what this week should look like. Sound familiar?
This week, let’s discover new places, check out exhibitions, try a class, dance and sing. Don’t hold yourself back. BUT! If you are feeling like staying in and doing absolutely nothing, that is totally valid too. Sometimes the best thing you can do is just recharge.

Tuesday, August 5. Try coffee somewhere new

Where? Julith Coffee & Roastery, Al Quoz, Dubai
Missed the opening of Julith on August 1? Time to check out this new homegrown spot — a roastery, brew lounge, concept store, and social hub rolled into one, perfect for serious coffee lovers.
Julith serves rare coffees from microclimates all over the world, roasted in-house by Turkish Champion Barista Serkan Sagsoz. The journey from remote mountain farms to your cup is carefully managed every step of the way — think balanced, complex flavours you won’t find anywhere else in Dubai.

Matcha is here too. Plus, there are wellness options like Hojicha Latte, Blue Matcha, Tonka Fizz, Sumac Lemonade, and a Banana Protein Shake.
The two-level space is all light and warmth: double-height windows, lots of wood and concrete, leafy plants, and a coffee bar where you can watch the roasting magic happen. There is even a split-flap display with little affirmations rolling by all day.

Wednesday, August 6. Tajammul

Where? XVA Gallery, Al Fahidi Neighbourhood, Bur Dubai
Something new and genuinely beautiful in XVA Gallery: Tajammul (comes from the Arabic root word for beauty (jamaal)). This group show is about how beauty lives everywhere in the UAE — through friendships, spontaneous connections, thoughtful gestures, and yes, all that dramatic architecture.
Tajammul is a little love letter to transformation and adaptability. It is about finding elegance in unexpected places and seeing how artists translate that into their own visual language. Think of it as a reminder that style isn’t just what you see, but also what you feel (and maybe even who you meet).

Thursday, August 7. Make your own perfume

Where? Oo La Lab, Dubai Design District, Building 4, Unit 204B
Yes, we did recommend a perfume class last week… but if you missed it, here is your second chance. Oo La Lab (straight from Singapore, but happily in Dubai too, in d3) runs these hands-on sessions where you get to create your own niche scent.
Go for it. Your future self will thank you. Check out their classes if you want to sniff around.

Friday, August 8. Cami Layé Okún

Where? Honeycomb Hi-Fi, Pullman Dubai Downtown – Level 2
This Friday, Honeycomb Hi-Fi is hosting something special. Meet Cami Layé Okún — a DJ, radio host, and vinyl detective originally from Cuba, known for genre-hopping sets that might take you from rare Afro-Caribbean grooves to lost Cuban disco and back. Her NTS show, Insolar, is basically a musical story hour, and her gigs are always an adventure.
Opening the night: Tarik Omar, a wizard with house, funk, and those deep-digging moments — from African boogie to rare Brazilian synth.

Saturday, August 9. Dance with Stick No Bills

Where? 25hours Hotel Dubai One Central, Trade Centre Street off Sheikh Zayed Road
Stick No Bills is hosting their event at beloved Room #3, and they are pulling out all the stops. Join the crew for one last night of dancing, good vibes, and that signature energy only Room #3 can deliver. With Jeff, GT & Kunj on the decks, MC BOSSJBEATS hyping the crowd, and Flair on visuals, this party is one for the books.

Sunday, August 10. Very lazy breakfast

Where? Alba, Dubai Opera Plaza, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Blvd
Sunday is the last day of the weekend, so you deserve to spend it slowly. The good start is the lazy breakfast.
Alba, the Japanese restaurant, just launched Lazy Breakfast. Every Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 3pm, just roll in, take a seat, and let the good stuff happen: fluffy tamagoyaki, king crab tostadas, wagyu okonomiyaki, ramen, and a lineup of fun desserts — yuzu toast, mini pancakes, fruit sandos. The Lazy Set is the real MVP: four courses, unlimited drinks, and zero pressure to rush. With only 25 spots each session, get your name in, show up hungry, and let Alba make breakfast feel like a mini vacation.

Monday, August 11. Nothing

Don’t force it. Just let Monday happen and pass.
