This isn’t just any travel guide — this is Nela’s guide.

Our beloved friend — queen of organisation, unmatched foodie, lover of style, and curator of all good vibes — Nela has gifted us her personal Barcelona gems. She is the friend who always knows where to go, what to order, and how to make every moment feel a little more special.

So pack light (but bring an extra suitcase), take notes, and get ready to be fed — in every sense of the word.

Top 6 food spots in Barcelona

Barcelona fed my soul and my stomach. While I came with a Google Maps list packed with tips and recs that would last me 8 months, here are some places that left a lasting impression:

1. Bar Cañete

A classic, and everyone’s “must”. Sit at the bar, order the squid sandwich and thank me later.

2. La Papa

Had other places on my list but ended up here every day.  Go to’s were the pistachio latte and their pão de queijo with truffle oil that was absolutely divine.

3. Gresca

Don’t skip the dessert. Trust me!

4. Fismuler

Every bite hits.

5. Lluritu

A local gem — fresh seafood, loud tables, easy going atmosphere.

A crazy buffet speed for 50 bucks. Perfect for a post night-out feast.

Sightseeing recommendations

Barcelona is a visual love letter.

Hands-down my favourite building in the city. As soon as you enter, you are catapulted into another world full of mysticism, surrealism and magic. Book the guided tour, trust me. Understanding Gaudí’s symbolism, how every curve and choice has meaning, makes it that much more impressive and awe-inspiring.

A masterpiece. Book in advance! And, again, take the tour! Adds layers of depth and becomes 10x more impressive.

Thirty minutes from the city. Take a break, grab your friends and go for golden hour. We hiked, brought snacks, and ended the day with a sunset picnic.

Top 3 Barcelona tips

1. Atteeeeenzione Piiiickpocket!

The rumors are true. Be smart, especially in the busy and touristy areas, and keep your eyes open. Crossbody bags and zipped pockets are your best friends.

2. Bring an extra suitcase

Barcelona is full of humans who truly own their authenticity and style. Look around you, get inspired, and then head on over to the shops. Don’t skip the small boutiques and vintage shops in Gracia, Gòtic, and El Born. They have the coolest one-of-a-kind pieces.

3. Take moments to do nothing

The city is super vibrant and buzzing with energy, and whilst I came with a list of 138 pinned spots and a full on 9 day itinerary, I would really recommend taking moments to simply pause and look around. Spend time people-watching. Look at how they interact with each other. How they walk, eat and gesture passionately with their hands while speaking. There is a lot of life in Barcelona, and lots to learn from simply observing.

Unfinished business

Despite my best efforts, there was simply not enough time (nor space in my stomach) for all the food I wanted to indulge in. I am plotting my return, and here are the ones I am excited to check out first:

•  Masa Vins

•  Taulat

•  Disfrutar

•  Tiberi

•  Fugaz

Our special gift for you all is here — Barcelona with Nela
