How To Get Cold In Dubai: 1-Day Plan To Freeze In the Desert
2 Oct 2025
Your brain says it is autumn. Your calendar says it is autumn. The only thing that isn't autumn is the actual weather. Yes, September in Dubai can be tricky, but Dubai is no stranger to when one is feeling too heated up. This city beholds many tips and tricks to cool down.
Starting even with malls. I personally always carry a jacket or hoodie with me, when going to a mall, considering how chilly it can be there (which is of course nice, especially, when it is humid outside).
Furthermore, you can freeze oneself in the cinema or an adventure park — anything would do. Right now an amazing film “The Roses” (2025) is on and you can go ice yourself, while enjoying such a divine movie.
Or, you can even go lick the actual snow in the Mall of the Emirates at Ski Dubai.
Yeah, we all know about this one. But have you actually been there? It is so worth it, when it is +38 outside.
Ski Dubai is one of those places that still makes you do a double take, even if you have lived in the city for years. Imagine: 40 degrees outside, but inside, you are crunching over real snow. We all can’t still wrap our heads around it and yet — this is a reality.
The slopes welcome both pros and first-timers, and there is something strangely liberating about strapping on skis in the middle of the desert.
What makes it even more surreal is the transition — one minute you are drifting past shop windows in the mall, and the next you are bundled up in gloves and a woolly hat. It is the ultimate cool-down trick for Dubai’s heat, and honestly, half the fun is in the sheer novelty of it.

If you miss the Alps badly — then you have to look into this one. Tucked right there, Kempinski offers this surreal little trick: you can experience both blazing desert heat and snowy alpine chill in the same day. As strange as it sounds — it is really exciting.
To have the most close-to-Austria experience, one can stay at the Aspen Chalet, which literally looks like a ski house, where everyone is having lunch in the mountains. And the view is the snow hill! So you go to bed in Dubai, seeing the snowflakes dancing around.
To cool down and have some fun over the weekend, we would suggest the following day plan:
- Have a proper sleep. Wake up at 8–9 am.
- 10 am — Breakfast in-room. Go heavy on the bread basket, trust me. You will need the carbs because soon enough you will be pulling on a ski jacket and stepping into snow.
- 11 am till 1–2 pm — Heading to the hills. Time to work that bread out! If you are a pro — try some tricks like jumping or backside riding. And if you are a beginner — no doubt you will have some challenges to be busy with. For a couple of hours, it is easy to forget the desert entirely.
- 2 pm–3 pm — Enjoy a proper cup of tea at Aspen Café. Try the herbal bestseller and you won’t be disappointed.
- 3 pm — Pool time. Swap boots for sandals and head upstairs to the rooftop pool. The sun beats down, and you float between two completely different worlds.
- Dinner. In the evening treat yourself with some amazing restaurants like the pop Eugene Eugene (yes, it is as green as in pictures) or Vera Versilia. Some of the must-tries — try the apple tart at Eugène Eugène and the Vera Versilia is known for a proper tuna crudo. Both are lovely and suitable for a nice end to such an eventful day!
So, there is this — the recipe to freeze your toosh in a desert. Because Dubai can satisfy even the craziest fantasies.
