Your Week In Dubai: What To Do, February 3–9

Thought you would get some rest this week? Haha, not a chance. From Dubai Fashion Week and two strong solo exhibitions, to the New Balance x Surf House community space, new openings like OTHER in Dar Al Wasl, a blink-and-you-will-miss-it Supernova Burger pop-up at Marsa Boulevard — this week is packed. Here is what is happening.

Tuesday, February 3. Dubai Fashion Week

Where? d3

Dubai is officially back in fashion mode. For six days (from February 1 to 6), the city becomes a nonstop fashion hub with runway shows, designer presentations, private events and industry meet-ups — all happening in the heart of d3.

This season brings a strong and very diverse designer lineup. Expect international names alongside standout regional talent. Among the highlights are Alberta Ferretti, Weinsanto, Anthropologie, as well as experimental and fashion-forward projects like Emergency Room x Timberland.

The regional and emerging scene is just as strong, with designers such as Lama Jouni, Nūra, Asjad, Krésha Bajaj, Lili Blanc, and Narma — a real mix of aesthetics, cultures and creative voices.

Collections for Autumn/Winter 2026/27 are shown here early, making Dubai Fashion Week one of the first places to spot next season’s trends. Beyond the runway, there is a clear focus on sustainability, innovation and where the industry is heading, plus serious networking with buyers, media and creatives from around the world.

Wednesday, February 4. Run your way… then stay a while. New Balance x Surf House

Where? Surf House, Jumeirah

Not every run ends when you stop your watch. Some turn into coffee, conversations and hanging around longer than planned. Until February 8, New Balance and Surf House are opening a laid-back community space in Jumeirah — a place where running, movement, culture, and connection naturally overlap.

Open daily from 6 am to 9 pm, the space is designed to fit real routines: early-morning runs and movement sessions, relaxed daytime hangs and easy evenings with music and community moments.

At the centre of it all is the 5-Day Run Streak. Run and check in across five days, and you will be entered into a draw to win a London Marathon bib — a rare and exciting opportunity for runners.

Expect sunrise runs, stretch sessions, yoga and pilates, community runs, coastal energy and a Shakeout Run on February 7. Add music, film screenings, creative talks and customisation stations where you can personalise shoes, tees or totes and actually take something meaningful home. Select the event here.

Thursday, February 5. Supernova Burger — Dubai pop-up

Where? Marsa Boulevard

London’s cult-favorite Supernova Burger has landed in Dubai — and it is a temporary pop-up. They are currently at Marsa Boulevard, but no one really knows how long they will be around, so consider this your sign to go ASAP.

If you are into proper smash burgers done right, this one is a must. Simple menu, big flavours, zero overthinking — just really good burgers. Highly recommend not waiting on this one.

Friday, February 6. Invisible Fish by Saif Azzuz

Where? Lawrie Shabibi

Invisible Fish marks Libyan–Yurok artist Saif Azzuz’s first solo exhibition in the Middle East. The show brings together painting, works on paper, sculpture and moving image, all rooted in one core idea: water as memory, connection and lived experience — not just a resource.

Azzuz views land and water as relational systems shaped by history, labour, and ecology. His research into the UAE’s coastal past — fishing villages, maritime work and life before rapid urban development — runs through the entire exhibition.

The title comes from a poem by Joy Harjo, reflecting cycles of transformation across land, water and time. That same sense of change flows through the works: from Algae Bloom paintings that feel fluid and underwater to textured, abstract pieces inspired by local fish species to installations using traditional gargour fishing traps — objects tied to both survival and regeneration.

Azzuz also connects different geographies through film, visually aligning waters from Dubai, San Francisco (where he is based) and the Klamath River into one shared horizon. The result is a thoughtful, immersive exhibition about ecology, ancestry and how deeply human life is entangled with the sea.

Saturday, February 7. Fractal by Huma Shoaib

Where? XVA Gallery

Opening February 7, Fractal is a solo exhibition by Huma Shoaib that looks at chaos not as randomness, but as a fractal paradox — a simple structure endlessly repeating across scales, blurring the line between divine order, spirituality and human conflict.

Rooted in Sufi philosophy and the idea of the nuqta (dot) as the essence of existence, the exhibition moves between science, belief systems and social behaviour. Shoaib explores how humans, despite being part of perfectly ordered natural systems, introduce destruction, exploitation and war through free will.

The works combine ornate geometric drawings, natural symbols like fish, birds and bees, and process-based actions such as shredding war history books or reducing language from words to letters and dots. These gestures become acts of unlearning — breaking complexity down to something minimal and essential.

Sunday, February 8. New spot: OTHER

Where? Dar Al Wasl

OTHER has just opened in Dar Al Wasl, adding a thoughtful new address to Dubai’s food scene. It is a contemporary dining spot designed for everyday moments that feel a little more considered, without being overworked or formal.

During the day, it is relaxed and light-filled — pastries, specialty coffee and crafted mocktails set the tone. As evening sets in, the space shifts into a more defined dining experience centred on seasonal, fluid menus and shareable plates. The food feels intuitive and produce-led, with signature dishes like spicy beef tenderloin, a hotdog-and-caviar sandwich, and the OTHER Wagyu beef burger.

The concept comes from The Food District, the team behind Origami, Moon Slice and DROP, known for developing spaces where design, flow and atmosphere matter as much as the food. Each project has its own identity, but they all share a focus on craft, creativity and spaces that feel personal rather than staged.

Designed by VERHAAL, OTHER’s interior plays with contrast — bold colour moments balanced by soft textures and tactile materials. The space evolves naturally throughout the day: bright and open in the morning, relaxed and atmospheric by night.

Monday, February 9. Mondays are too hard to do anything

... apart from work, of course.
