WATER, the essence of life! Yet, our precious freshwater resources are dwindling at an alarming rate. But Wadi Shees, a stunning oasis in Sharjah, UAE, is hope.

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Environment and Protected Areas Authority Sharjah launched the Freshwater Conservation project. Its mission is to support sustainable agriculture, protect endangered species, and preserve the natural heritage of Wadi Shees.

The Sandy Times is eager to share the progress information. The authorities have restored a significant portion of the traditional falaj irrigation system, trained local farmers in cutting-edge water-saving techniques, and achieved a remarkable 30% reduction in water usage. Plus, they have created a scenic 1.8km nature trail, boosting ecotourism and attracting visitors from far and wide.

A crucial aspect: the authorities couldn't have done it without the support of the local community. They engaged with residents, empowering them to participate actively in the project's implementation.
