If you have ever googled “Green area in Dubai” or “Forests and Parks in Dubai” — then you have definitely come across Al Barari, which is a perfect green escape in the suburbs of the city. I am not gonna lie, being a happy lady in Dubai, sometimes I crave sort of “Desperate Housewives” vibes, but with 0% of drama and 100% of greenery and Bree Van de Kamp’s apple pies.
Al Barari, Dubai's greenest neighbourhood, stands out as the region’s first integrated luxury and eco-conscious development. Established in 2005 by a family-owned developer, Al Barari has blossomed into a unique residential community that seamlessly blends chic living with environmental stewardship. This lush haven offers a rare escape from the city's buzzle (yes its hustle and bustle in one, give me this one), making it a sought-after real estate investment and a beloved community for its residents.
Prime Location
Strategically located just 15 minutes from Dubai’s major social hubs and amenities, and 10 minutes from top international schools, Al Barari offers unparalleled convenience while maintaining its serene and secluded atmosphere. This strategic placement ensures that residents enjoy the best of both worlds — proximity to urban amenities and the tranquillity of a lush green environment.
Thoughtfully Designed Residences
Al Barari’s residential offerings are designed to cater to diverse preferences and lifestyles. The community features exquisitely designed villas (The Residences, The Reserve, and The Nest) and expansive apartments (Ashjar, Seventh Heaven, and The Neighbourhood). Each residence is crafted with attention to detail, ensuring comfort, luxury, and a connection to nature.
The neighbourhood covers an impressive 18 million square feet, with 60% dedicated to green spaces, landscaped gardens, natural lakes, and freshwater streams. The name "Al Barari" translates to "wilderness" in Arabic, which is fitting given the abundant greenery that makes it one of Dubai's greenest communities.
A Community Like No Other
Al Barari’s master plan includes a variety of leisure facilities that foster a strong sense of community.
Botanical Activities:
The community’s themed botanical areas, such as Woodland Gardens, Balinese gardens, and contemporary horticultural spaces, offer residents tranquil spots for leisurely strolls and relaxation. These green spaces, filled with trees and plants from around the world, create a peaceful and picturesque environment that enhances the quality of life for residents.
The award-winning Heart & Soul spa (you know the drill with the link) and the state-of-the-art Body Language health club cater to residents' wellness needs, while a calendar of regular community events ensures there is always something happening to engage and entertain. An upcoming vibrant retail component promises to add even more convenience and excitement to the community.
For families, Al Barari Playground is a water-themed wonderland, featuring Serenity Beach with its exciting pirate ship, Adventure Splash Pad with slides and water-spraying trees, and the Toddler Aqua Oasis for the little ones. The Treehouses adventure area adds to the fun, making it a perfect escape for children.
Al Barari Nature Escapes offers educational and fun events designed to teach children about nature. From night safari scavenger hunts to nature playdates and camps, these activities provide a hands-on learning experience in a forest setting. The regular nature fairs are a hit with both residents and visitors, showcasing the community's commitment to environmental education.
Culinary Excellence
Al Barari is also home to the famed restaurant LOWE, which has earned the prestigious Michelin Green Star, for sustainable gastronomy, awarded for its efforts in waste reduction, local sourcing, and community support. The restaurant uses vegetables from its onsite garden, playing a key role in a revolutionary movement toward eco-friendly dining without compromising taste.Lowe’s Waste Not dinners and "nose-to-tail" dining approach — LOWE showcases its philosophy by transforming food scraps into delicious meals through fermentation.
The Farm, an cutest alfresco gourmet restaurant (insta link included), offers a retreat to nature with its focus on healthy, organic, and sustainably sourced food. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, The Farm provides an idyllic setting for dining amidst lush greenery.
Al Barari is also home to some of Dubai’s most unusual and delightful attractions like the Hideout restaurant and lounge with its lavish ambiance and art gallery. Offering a cosmopolitan kind of relaxation, it is the perfect spot for a delicious meal, watching major sporting events, or enjoying themed evenings with friends.
Looking at the whole infrastructure, I think it is fair to say Al Barari is more than just a residential community, but is a small urbanistic world of 15-min community, where both luxury and nature are available within walking distance.
