1 Aug 2024

Today, I will be taking you aboard the hype train, as we talk about the most anticipated music album releases of August 2024. In case you missed our last edition, check out our piece on July’s greatest music hits. Let’s get this show on the air.

“Hood Poet” by Polo G

When: August 2
After numerous delays, Polo G is finally set to release new album in August 2024. Fingers crossed there won’t be more delays! Hood Poet is the fourth studio album by American rapper Polo G, set for release on August 9, 2024, by Columbia Records. The album will feature the singles "Distraction," "Barely Holdin' On," and "Angels in the Sky."

Latto set to release “Sugar Honey Iced Tea”

When: August 9
In promotion of her upcoming third studio album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, Latto returned to her hometown and highlighted a cult classic film known for its memorable quotes. This announcement follows her 2023 hit “Put It On Da Floor” and recent singles “Sunday Service” and “Big Mama.” The LP's title — a playful euphemism — comes after some subliminal exchanges with Ice Spice, who recently released a hard-hitting track targeting the southern rapper.

Big Sean returns with “Better Me Than You”

When: August 9
After a four year hiatus, Big Sean is back. This will be his first major release since his last album, Detroit 2, released in 2020, and his overall sixth studio album. Better Me Than You, set to drop on August 9.

Short N’ Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter

When: August 23
Sabrina Carpenter's hit song "Espresso" is a runaway hit, reaching No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and inspiring a wave of jokes, covers, and more on TikTok and Instagram. Her previous album, emails i can’t send, was also successful, producing hits like “Nonsense,” “Feather,” and “Because I Liked a Boy.” With "Espresso" being a strong contender for song of the summer, Carpenter has built a solid foundation for her new album, Short N’ Sweet, which she announced on social media and is set to release at the end of August.

Post Malone riding roughshod with F-1 Trillion

When: August 16
In the 1985 movie Back to the Future, Christopher Lloyd's character, Doc Brown, needs 1.21 gigawatts of electricity to power his DeLorean time machine. That is about as much energy as Post Malone seems to be giving off in F-1 Trillion, his latest album. By the looks of it, F-1 Trillion looks like it is going to steamroll the country and pop mainstream like a mega-sized Ford truck in the fourth quarter of 2024.
