Looking for some cheap and tasty eats in Dubai? Wondering if they even exist? Oh, they do. Sophie She, the creative editor at The Sandy Times, has got you covered. She has been to almost all of them and has put together a list of her top picks, including one little secret spot.

  • @vietnamesefoodies
  • 📍 JLT
  • 📍Downtown Dubai
  • 📍Dubai Creek Harbour
  • 📍Dubai Hills Mall
  • 📍Nakheel Mall
  • 📍Damac Mall

Authentic Vietnamese dishes at pocket-friendly prices. Pho Bo with tenderloin and fresh spring rolls — phenomenal and healthy. Great choice for a lazy meal. JLT branch features cutest tables by the river.

Al Farooj

  • @alfarooj_uae
  • 📍Abu Hail
  • 📍Sharjah
  • 📍Tawam
  • 📍Manasir
  • 📍Ajman

Arguably the best shawarma one can find in DIFC/Al Satwa. Imagine this — late night, all the fancy places are closed and you’re rolling out of Monkey bar — what to do? Where to go? Well, now you know.

Ask for extra garlic sauce and thank us later.

Operation Falafel

  • @operationfalafel
  • 📍JBR
  • 📍Media City
  • 📍Motor City
  • 📍Boulevard Downtown
  • 📍Outlet Village

A great spot for Middle Eastern street food like falafel wraps and shawarmas. ”Award-winning and Proudly Home-Grown”, as they claim themselves, this chain is worth checking out. Top tip — their breakfast tray is good at any time of the day as it is big and nutritious.

Khoory Special Kebab

Another must-mention from the world of kebabs. This place is located on the outer part of the city, but considering their delivery, this is the best go-to, when you crave that perfect Arabic lemony meat and you don’t want to spend a fortune. Family-made, they serve probably the best kebab in the city. This author’s ultimate favourite is the lemony one, but the rest of the Sandy team voted for the chicken and lamb chops. So, go for the mix kebab and you won’t be disappointed. Shirazi salad and moutabal are worth ordering as well. It is mouthwatering to even think about this lemony meat, after you have tasted it one time.

Meat Beirut

This is the author's secret spot. Located in Arjan, this is the cutest place with great Lebanese cuisine. Exceptional moutabal, everyone craves every time. Great great great home-made jams and other things you can purchase for your kitchen. Enjoy traditional Lebanese wraps and amazing grilled meats. Lovely staff as a compliment to everything. Their own creation — Lebanese Burger — give it a bite, you won’t regret it. And please take that ayran with you, it is a legit Lebanese ayran worth millions. More than that, they deliver meat goodies to your doorstep, as they’re a butchery as well. So, next time you’ll host a BBQ — you’re all set!
