The summer season is almost over, so let’s wrap up this beautiful summer with some artsy things you can do during the last days of juicy August.
Don’t forget to grab your friends, turn off your phone and just, you know, have a good time!
Opera Gallery, Dubai Summer Vibes
Location: Gate Village, Building 3
Duration: till 31st of August
Dubai Summer Vibes is a thoughtfully curated collection showcasing works by contemporary artists, both renowned and emerging, who capture the essence of summer through vibrant colours, forms, and themes. Walking through this curatorial peace, you can almost smell sweet oranges, which go so well with summer vibes. The exhibition will run until August 31, 2024.
My personal favourites are the colourful Pink Tea Pot collage painted on canvas by Mersuka Dopazo and the stunning sponge on oil, The Pearl Necklace, by Adjei Tawiah. Don’t miss out on these; if you are struggling to find them, just ask someone inside; Opera Gallery’s assistants are passionate and very welcoming, and they will tell you everything about your favourite art pieces.
Indigo Hotel X Skaya Art Consultancy Agency, Visions Unlocked: Art Beyond The Gallery
Location: Five rooms on the 3rd floor, Hotel Indigo Dubai Downtown
Duration: 23 August and 24 August, 10 am–6 pm
The art without the frame. This immersive art experience by Hotel Indigo and Skaya Art Consultancy Agency, invites spectators to explore the unique worlds of five diverse artists, featuring a range of media including cultural heritage photography, mixed–media paintings, original design pieces, and handmade ceramic sculptures.
Guests will be guided through five rooms, each showcasing the work of one creator: mixed-media artist Leonardo Partida Prieto, painter and sculptor Anna Chekh, ceramicist Dana Kamal, photographer Bhupendra Bagla, and the design team from High Sense Studio.
More than that, if you will be there on Emirati Women’s Day, they have a bonus display and you can even enjoy an afternoon tea for two in this beautiful artsy environment.
Zayed National Museum in Digital
Location: Your GPS
Duration: Eternal
Well, this is not really “catch before the end of summer”, but this one is too cool not to mention!
So, we all know there is a whole cultural world unravelling in Abu Dhabi (if you live under the rock — this is our article about Saadiyat Art District).
A very special museum is set to open in this art heaven in Abu Dhabi: the Zayed National Museum. The stunning architectural design we have all been waiting for is now live in digital form.
Zayed National Museum has launched its new website and social media channels, offering an accessible way to explore the rich history and cultural heritage of the UAE.
The website showcases the museum’s extensive collection, from ancient times to the present, and provides access to its research and educational programs.
Through these digital platforms, users can gain deeper insights into the museum’s offerings and the legacy of the UAE’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
One can feel my excitement, so have a look at it yourself:
