Apple's September 9th event is just days away, and excitement is building. Whether you are a die-hard Apple fan or just curious about what is next, there is much to look forward to. Let’s unpack some of the rumours swirling around the event.
As expected, the highlight of Apple’s event will be the launch of the new iPhone 16 series.
With the tagline "It's Glowtime," Apple is rumoured to be launching the Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple AirPods 4 alongside the iPhone 16. With AI being such a hot topic right now, don't be surprised if Apple also gives us an update on its AI platform, Apple Intelligence.
“Iamvinoth” on Reddit has his own theories, stating that "Siri is about to get a glow up" with “general–zod” saying, “FINALLY, they are going to make the Apple logo glow again on MacBooks” in the same thread.
Some of our biggest rumours right now
The event is set to take place on Monday but Mark Gurman, Chief Correspondent for Bloomberg: Apple, Tech, Devices, reports that there is an “unusual and mandatory meeting for employees at all Apple retail stores for the evening of Sept 12 or morning of Sept 13.” Could that mean something is dropping in Apple Stores on the 13th?
“PhyrexianSpaghetti” on Reddit has a good theory: “My bet it's that it's all gonna be about AI and the new Siri and the glow is referring to the new screen animation whenever you trigger AI functions.”
According to Mark Gurman on X “Many Apple stores are low on stock of the iPad mini in several configs, while the device is considered “constrained” internally within Apple, I’m told. That could be a sign a new one is coming. It hasn’t been updated since 2021. Wouldn’t be surprised to see it updated for AI.” A new mini could fit in well with Apple’s iPhone event announcements if it comes equipped with an AI-capable chip.
Apple often takes the opportunity at these showcases, to discuss the Apple TV. With the fall lineup approaching, it is likely they will put a spotlight on their upcoming shows. Fans are also buzzing with speculation: could this be the moment they announce the return of Ted Lasso with a Season 4 announcement?
There is also a chance that Apple could unveil a new Apple TV 4K at the event. The current model was launched in 2022 so there could be a much needed update coming.
Let’s not forget the possibility of an Apple Watch X branding debut with potentially larger displays on both models, a thinner design and a more powerful chip.
How to watch the event?
Apple's event will kick off Sept. 9 at 10 am. PDT / 1 pm. EDT. For those of us unable to make it to Apple's headquarters in California, the event will be live-streamed for global viewership. You will be able to watch the event on Apple's official website and the official Apple YouTube channel.
