Al Jahili Fort, a stunning 19th-century fortress in Al Ain, built-in the 1890s as a home for the ruling Al Nahyan family this majestic fort has witnessed countless battles and armed invasions. Today, it stands as a testament to the region's tumultuous past and its significance in shaping the modern world.
Transformed into a cultural centre and tourist attraction, Al Jahili Fort now boasts a temporary exhibition gallery as well as a permanent exhibition dedicated to Sir Wilfred Thesiger, and a charming bookshop. Stroll through the lush gardens and immerse yourself in the region's culture and heritage.
Located in the picturesque Buraimi Oasis, this gem is one of the largest forts in the UAE. Its sun-dried mud brick architecture and enchanting surroundings have earned it the prestigious Terra Award for internal design and layout.
You can even explore beyond the fort. Visit the nearby Jahili Mosque, built around the same time as the fort and uncover the secrets of the region's historic sites.

Step into the private world of a Sheikh: Al Ain Palace Museum
Al Ain Palace Museum, a stunning 1937 estate that has a rich history, art, and culture. Walk in the footsteps of royalty. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE, once resided in this majestic palace.
As you wander through its halls you will discover historic furniture, art work and personal belongings that reveal the ruling family's private and political life. This incredible museum is a window into the Emirati way of life in the 20th century. Explore the traditional courtyard, admire the stunning architecture and learn about the country's rulers and their lineage.
