We recently interviewed Ali Hosseini, an artist renowned for covering cars (particularly Porsches) with rugs. This sparked our curiosity, prompting us to explore the local art scene and discover other artists who share a deep passion for incorporating cars into their work. Each artist brings their own distinctive approach and utilises various techniques, but they all share a common enthusiasm for everything related to automobiles.
You might be wondering, "Why these artists?" Well, it is simple. While there are certainly plenty of talented creators out there, we have specifically chosen those who captured our attention.
Shaheer Mansour
Egyptian-Canadian artist based in Dubai, Shaheer Mansour, also known as SIYARTY, creates car illustrations using a unique hand-drawn scribbling technique with ink.
He explains the passion to cars on his website, "I have been always fascinated by the car scene in the region since I was a little kid. Constantly walking jaw dropped and inspired by what can automotive design can offer from design, status, technology, and building communities with mutual interests."
If you visit his Instagram (suprisingly, he doesn't have even 1,000 followers!), you can not only enjoy his completed artwork but also witness how his works are created, stroke by stroke. It is truly exciting.
By the way, Shaheer also has a passion for drawing architecture. Here, you can see his architectural illustrations.
Nariman Darbandi
Nariman Darbandi hails from Kurdistan/Iraq. He defines himself as a digital artist influenced by cinema, and it is evident when you see the images he creates.
Picture this: a nighttime scene at a petrol station, rain pouring down (it is a necessity), with building letters illuminated in red or yellow hues. There is a palpable sense of suspense, hinting that something has occurred. But what exactly? That remains a secret.
It wouldn't be entirely accurate to say that cars are his sole focus in his artwork. However, it is clear that the car plays a prominent role in his images, for one reason or another.
Omar Fakhuri
Omar Fakhori, a Palestinian-Filipino artist, based in Canada, uses paper, pen, marker, and ink to create incredibly detailed drawings of cars. His artwork is so precise that it is like an architect designing a building down to the smallest detail. It even feels as though if we were to open the hood of one of his drawn cars, we would find a perfectly rendered engine inside.
Omar's Instagram almost feels like a crash course in car drawing. If he ever decided to create a manual, it would undoubtedly be a hit.
Shady Al Hady
The Palestinian-Jordanian artist has a keen interest in airplanes. His Instagram avatar is an airplane tail, and his latest work involves mirrors shaped like planes.
Additionally, Shady incorporates cars into his artwork, applying bright colours and acrylics onto canvas. Interestingly, airplanes consistently make an appearance in these pictures.
Interesting to know: Shady Al Hady has a sibling — Basil (known as Karrouhat)!
