Your Week In Dubai: What To Do, June 9–15

Another week in Dubai, another reason to actually leave the house. This one has got a bit of everything — a textile installation at Jameel that'll stop you in your tracks, a brand launch with free drinks and jewellery giveaways, a new Pilates studio on the Palm with Gulf views and tiny classes, a workshop that asks you to draw without thinking, and a Friday night DJ set worth showing up for. Oh, and a café-concept store hybrid that tells the story of someone who spent a decade missing home and decided to do something about it. Seven days, six things to do. Here is what is on.

Tuesday, June 9. H5 Lab

Where? Alserkal Avenue, WH 32A

A little concept store meets collector's dream — H5 Lab just moved into WH 32A, and it is worth a visit. The space brings together archival clothing, rare vintage finds, and carefully chosen design objects, all picked with a real collector's eye. The person behind it, Mustafa, spent over 10 years living abroad, moving between cultures, cuisines, and lifestyles and eventually landed in the UAE with an idea: what if you could blend all of that with the comfort of home? The café side does exactly that — drinks and bites with a familiar, personal feel. The kind of place that tells a story.

Wednesday, June 10. Artists' Rooms: Kamruzzaman Shadhin

Where? Jameel Arts Centre, Gallery 10

This is a proper one to see. Bangladeshi artist Kamruzzaman Shadhin has taken over Gallery 10 with a massive textile installation called The River Remembers — and it is stunning. Handcrafted threads trace the colours of two rivers running through the Bengal delta: the Teesta and the Brahmaputra. Embedded in the work are engraved brass disks carrying the migration stories of two women from the artist's life — his mother, and a traditional jute weaver from his village — both of whose lives were shaped by the 1947 partition of Bengal.

Thursday, June 11. Poisoned Hearts

Where? Poison Drop, Dubai Hills Mall, 1st floor

Poisoned Hearts is officially launching, and they're making a whole evening out of it. Come in, browse their most iconic heart designs, and get your pendant engraved on the spot with whatever you want. There is a DJ set (hi, Shef Codes!), drinks, bites, and a giveaway — register when you arrive for a chance to win one of their signature heart necklaces. Hosted by Lava Ilieva from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Friday, June 12. Weekly Sounds Series at Honeycomb

Where? Honeycomb

Honeycomb's weekly Friday series continues with Kevork Keshishian — better known as Diamond Setter — behind the decks. If you've heard him before, you already know. If you haven't, this is a good place to start.

Saturday, June 13. The Reading Room Workshop

Where? NYUAD Art Gallery

Not your average Saturday activity. This workshop blends intuitive drawing with a kind of metaphorical self-exploration — the goal is to get out of your head and into something more instinctive. You'll be guided through exercises designed to bypass all that analytical overthinking and tap into something a bit more personal and subconscious.

Led by Alina Kobalyan, an architect and multidisciplinary designer based in Dubai. Open to anyone 18+, zero art background needed — that is kind of the whole point.

Sunday, June 14. Sculpt Studio

Where? Palm Jumeirah

A brand new boutique Pilates studio just opened on the Palm, and it genuinely looks like one of the nicest spots in Dubai for this kind of thing. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Arabian Gulf, classes capped at just 7 people, and a very personal atmosphere — founder Laura Zahiu teaches herself and knows every guest by name. She built this place around the idea that movement should feel nurturing, not performative — somewhere you actually want to come back to, not just check off a workout. The schedule covers Reformer Pilates, Mat Sculpt sessions, and regular community events like sunset classes and mindful movement evenings. For anyone who has been meaning to try Pilates but dreads the big gym vibe — this is the opposite of that.
