While Sandy Times Radio is on its way (don’t forget, the party is coming on November 16 as well), we are sharing a list of upcoming music releases. From the long-awaited comeback of The Cure to the lyric and irony by Father John Misty – here come the albums we will be listening to in the next few weeks.

Contour: Take Off From Mercy

November 1, 2024 South Carolina’s Contour is set to make a splash with Take Off From Mercy, a work that seamlessly blends R&B, jazz, and ambient influences. Signed to the esteemed indie label Mexican Summer, Contour’s latest venture boasts collaborations with visionaries like Saul Williams and Mndsgn, alongside co-producer Omari Jazz. The music album introduces listeners to lead singles “Theresa” and “Gin Rummy,” which showcase Contour’s velvety, resonant vocals. Listeners can expect oaky timbres layered over ambient beats and noir-infused synths, creating a soundscape that is both introspective and expansive.

The Cure: Songs of a Lost World

November 1, 2024
Legendary goth rock band The Cure returns after a 16-year hiatus with Songs of a Lost World. Their previous album, 4:13 Dream, hit shelves in 2008, just before a significant shift in U.S. political history, and this new music album seems primed to coincide with another. This timing could be mere coincidence, or it might be part of frontman Robert Smith’s enigmatic storytelling, which often resonates deeply with The Cure’s devoted fanbase. Known for moody atmospheres and haunting lyrics, Songs of a Lost World is expected to carry forward the introspective legacy of the band, delivering a cathartic experience for fans old and new.

Father John Misty: Mahashmashana

November 22, 2024
Father John Misty, known for his poetic lyricism and genre-bending sound, will release Mahashmashana on November 22. The project’s second-longest track, “I Guess Time Just Makes Fools of Us All,” already featured on his recent greatest-hits compilation, piquing fans’ curiosity with its wistful tone. Yet it is the title track, “Mahashmashana,” that opens the album as its longest song, hinting that Josh Tillman has an intricate narrative to unravel right from the start. Expect Mahashmashana to deliver the kind of reflective, slightly ironic yet profound music that has become a hallmark of Father John Misty’s unique brand of artistry.

Kim Deal: Nobody Loves You More

November 22, 2024
Alternative rock icon Kim Deal, known for her work with the Breeders and the Pixies, is finally unveiling her debut solo album, Nobody Loves You More. This release is a milestone, as Deal has been crafting this music album for over a decade, with some tracks recorded at Steve Albini’s famed Electrical Audio studio in Chicago. Pre-released tracks “Coast” and “Crystal Breath” showcase her ability to create deeply emotional soundscapes with raw instrumentation and poignant lyrics. Nobody Loves You More promises to be a powerful testament to Deal’s storied career and creative resilience, reflecting both her influence on rock music and her unyielding originality.
