So here is the situation: there is a party coming up and you need to dress up. Maybe the theme’s not even cowboy-related, but for some reason… you just really want to dress like a cowboy. Or maybe there is no party — you just feel like it. And honestly, fair enough.
Everyone is talking about cowboy-style “coming back,” but let's be real — did it ever actually go away? Feels like it has always been around. Sometimes louder, sometimes quieter, but never completely gone.
Anyway, if you are going for it — cowboy mode on — you will want to start with the basics: hat, jeans, boots, belt. And of course: fringe. Always fringe.
Boots (obviously)
Let’s start with the boots — probably the most important part of this whole look. There are a million options out there, and we have already written about some of them before, but here are a few more pairs we really like. The suede cowboy boots from Mango are simple and wearable, with no extra drama, just the right amount of Western flair. If you are looking for something closer to the real-deal ranch kind of boot, Ariat makes a solid pair that feels like it could handle actual work (or at least a night out pretending). And then there are the Golden Goose ankle boots — embroidered leather, a bit more stylised, but still very much in the cowboy zone.
Hats
A cowboy look without a hat is like… jeans without pockets — technically possible, but why? These are some of the best we’ve seen: Stetson’s “Shasta” and Gigi Pip’s Teddy Cattleman are absolute classics — and then there’s the gabardine one from our forever favourite, Miu Miu.
Jeans (go bootcut!)
The Diesel D-Akii pair basically nails the vibe: modern but still feels rooted in the classic silhouette. If you are into something darker and more sculptural, Rick Owens DRKSHDW has a pair that feels a bit tougher but is still on theme. And then there are the Purple Brand ones with rhinestones — which are perfect if your cowboy moment also involves sparkle.
The belt
The golden rule of a true cowboy: the bigger the belt buckle, the better.
B-Low The Belt does a proper Western-style one — big enough to be seen, but not too loud. Golden Goose has a version that looks slightly worn in, in a good way, like you have had it forever. Or if you want something simpler but still nice in the details, Our Legacy has a clean pin-buckle belt that won’t try to steal the show but still belongs in the picture.
Fringe
Fringe can show up wherever it wants — and should. That is kind of the whole point. On boots, on jackets, on bags, sleeves, hems, anything.
There are ankle boots with fringe from Buttero if you want something a bit more subtle. Or a full-on fringed denim jacket from Moschino if you are leaning into the statement. And if you want to add just a little movement to the look, there’s the Aquazzura Gytane bag — it does the job without overdoing it.
