Your Week In Dubai: What To Do, February 24–March 2

This week’s selection brings together a bit of everything. There are thoughtful exhibitions for slow visits, like "The Bouquet and the Wreath" and "Blue Gold", a classic movie night at Cinema Akil, delicious bagels at 852 Bakery and beautiful Ramadan majlis with Dior at Nammos. All together, it is an easy mix of plans you can fit into the week without rushing.

Tuesday, February 24. Where You Once Prayed for Me

Where? Gulf Photo Plus

During this month of reflection, Miriam Ali’s work gently asks us to pause and look back at the spaces shaped by prayer and presence. The piece grew from something deeply personal: her grandfather’s well-worn janamaz. Following his steps, Miriam places herself where he once stood, offering prayers for him in the same places he once prayed for her.

Wednesday, February 25. The Dior Ramadan Majlis

Where? Nammos Dubai

Dior created a special Ramadan majlis for Nammos Dubai — elegant, calm, and very refined. Inside, it is all about subtle luxury: soft patterns, plush cushions, Dior tableware, and greenery throughout. Outside, there is a terrace with stunning handwoven rugs.

Iftar is served from sunset until 8 PM (AED 650 per person). Suhoor runs from 9 PM to 2 AM (AED 500 per person).

Thursday, February 26. The Bouquet and the Wreath

Where? Jameel Arts Centre

Until March 8, The Bouquet and the Wreath by Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook is on view at Jameel Arts Centre.

At the heart of this exhibition is a quiet contrast: the bouquet and the wreath. One celebrates life, the other marks loss. Araya uses these symbols to talk about care, remembrance, and the way we relate to one another — across time, bodies, and even between the living and the dead.

Her work often brings together video, photography, and everyday objects, creating intimate moments that feel deeply personal but also universal. There is a strong sense of tenderness here — toward ageing, grief, ritual, and presence. Nothing is rushed or loud. It asks you to slow down, look closely, and sit with what you are feeling.

Friday, February 27. Pretty Woman

Where? Cinema Akil in 25hours Hotel

Missing Richard Gere and Julia Roberts together on screen? This is your sign to rewatch Pretty Woman — a feel-good classic that never really gets old.

Saturday, February 28. Blue Gold

Where? Isola Space

The exhibition looks at water as more than a resource — as memory, material, and a force that shapes both land and everyday life. Curated by Jad Karam, it brings together Middle Eastern artists whose work sits at the intersection of environment, design, and human intervention.

Through installations and experimental approaches, Blue Gold invites you to slow down and reflect on natural cycles and the quiet ways water keeps reshaping our world.

Participating artists: 200Grs., Abdulla Buhijji, Abdulrahman AlMuftah, Abeer Seikaly, Alla Abdunabi, Areen Hassan, Hana El-Sagini, Raya Kassisieh, Shaima Shamsi, Talin Hazbar.

Sunday, March 1. Bagels time

Where? 852 Bakery

Bagel lovers, take note: 852 Bakery just dropped a new lineup of bagel sandwiches!

Everything here is made in-house, from the bagels and gluten-free bread to the schmears, pickles, kimchi, and pastrami. New highlights include a gluten-free Chicken Parm and the Grilled and Dangerous, a juicy, fully house-made pastrami sandwich.
