Your Week In Dubai: What To Do, July 14–20

Dubai may be deep into summer, but the city is not slowing down. This week brings buttery Argentinian medialunas in Al Safa, a midweek track session for anyone refusing to let the heat ruin their running routine, a new chapter for Parker’s at Mall of the Emirates, and a colourful exhibition dedicated to the wonderfully imperfect world of RISO printing. By the weekend, the pace shifts to late-night dancing at Moist Paper Party and freshly baked Filipino breads, sandwiches and desserts at Breadwinner’s d3 pop-up.

July 14, Tuesday. Best medialunas ever

Where? Pancita, Al Safa

Pancita, a recently opened Argentinian bakery in Al Safa, is serving the essentials: flaky medialunas, golden empanadas, alfajores and an all-day menu inspired by the kind of neighbourhood cafés where breakfast easily turns into lunch.

The space feels warm, relaxed and refreshingly uncomplicated. Come for coffee and something buttery, then see how long you end up staying.

July 15, Wednesday. Track night

Where? SELECTSHOP FRAME

For those who would rather run midweek than wait for the weekend, FRAME Run Club’s Wednesday Track Night starts at 7:30 pm.

The session is part of the club’s current Base Phase, with each week designed to gradually build strength, speed and running efficiency. This Wednesday’s progression run will start steadily and get faster as you go.

July 16, Thursday. Meet the new Parker’s

Where? Mall of the Emirates

Ten years ago, Parker’s became one of Dubai’s best-known homegrown restaurants; getting inside required a little detective work: golden keys were hidden around the city, and without one, there was no entry.

Today, no key hunt is required — and Parker’s has opened a new location at Mall of the Emirates, with a new space, an updated menu and another chapter in the story of Mr Parker.

July 17, Friday. Khali Balak Men RISO

Where? Tashkeel, Nad Al Sheba

Risograph printing is not meant to look perfectly polished. Colours shift, layers overlap, textures remain visible, and the machine occasionally introduces its own ideas. That unpredictability is exactly what makes it interesting.

Curated by Ibrahim Zaki, Tashkeel’s new group exhibition, Khali Balak Men RISO, brings together posters, prints, cards and experimental works created by artists and designers who have explored the medium through workshops, individual practices and collaborative projects.

Rather than hiding the printing process, the exhibition places it at the centre. Misalignments, grain and unexpected combinations become part of the final image, showing how creative limitations can often produce the most surprising results.

The exhibition runs until August 21, but Friday’s opening is the moment to see it first — and meet some of the people behind the prints.

July 18, Saturday. Moist Paper Party

Where? Gulf Inn Hotel, Al Nasr

Moist Paper Party returns to Gulf Inn Hotel for another night built around good music, a close crowd and the kind of atmosphere that rarely needs a complicated description. Come early, stay late and prepare to lose track of where one set ends and the next begins. Behind the decks: Kirill Zhan and Nikita Orbita.

Entry is AED 50 before midnight and AED 100 after. DM the organisers to RSVP.

July 19, Sunday. Filipino bread at Breadwinner

Where? One Life, Dubai Design District

Two Filipino chefs, plenty of freshly baked bread and one month-long pop-up: Breadwinner has taken over One Life in d3 for weekends throughout July.

Created by Chef JP Anglo and Chef Nouel, the bakery serves Filipino breads, sandwiches and desserts that bring familiar flavours into a casual café setting. It is the kind of Sunday plan that requires very little organisation — arrive hungry, order several things for the table and pretend you always intended to take the remaining pastries home.

July 20, Monday. Do absolutely nothing

Where? Preferably at home

After a week of running, exhibitions, new openings, pastries and late-night dancing, Monday has one very important plan: none at all.
