I have always loved the idea that you can understand a moment in history through music. Blueprints of the 90s tells exactly that story — a selection of tracks that, together, capture the decade’s global shift: from analogue to digital, from the glossy excess of the 80s to something rawer, stranger, and far less polished.
The mood changed with it.
Melancholy gave way to quiet defiance. Irony slipped into the lyrics. Vulnerability became part of the aesthetic. Across the globe, new genres emerged — grunge, Britpop, electronic experimentation, and the golden age of hip-hop.
And who laid these blueprints? Nirvana. R.E.M. Björk. Depeche Mode. Tune in and revisit the names and sounds that shaped a decade.
