You already know TECHFUI — the Dubai-based, vinyl-only label that has become rather hard for us to ignore. And honestly, why would we even try? Their sound is always deep, slightly strange, never too obvious — exactly the sort of thing that sends you down a Discogs rabbit hole five minutes after pressing play.

And TECHFUI rarely comes alone. For Episode 3, they are joined by Wareika — the German trio of Jakob Seidensticker, Florian Schirmacher and Henrik Raabe, who have spent nearly two decades making electronic music that is wonderfully difficult to pin down.

So, what do they actually sound like? Imagine hypnotic dub and subtle house underneath, then throw in meditative jazz, techno, guitar, synths, percussion and vocals — and let three musicians improvise their way through the whole thing. Wareika approach club music much more like a live band than a traditional electronic act: their sets have no fixed tracklist, and much of what happens is created in the moment. Their influences stretch just as far, from King Tubby, Sun Ra and Fela Kuti to jazz, Indian raga and Arabic maqam.

Which is exactly why TECHFUI and Wareika click: dance-floor energy, but never the obvious route there. You know what to do.
