Cycling in the Middle East is definitely one of the most popular sports. The bicycle market in this region was valued at approximately USD 4.52 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach USD 7.19 billion by 2030. In Dubai, roughly every third person I know cycles professionally, and every second person is thinking about starting.
Right now, Dubai is a paradise for cycling — perfect weather, fresh air, plenty of cycling tracks, actively supported by the UAE government both in the city and beyond, as well as regular cycling marathons being hosted.
But what about the Middle Eastern summer, when it is too hot to even step outside? Die-hard cyclists will not be put off by anything, but for everyone else, there is a solution — cycling camps around the world! Here are some of the best ones.
Stuart Hall Cycling Holidays
This camp organiser is set to host both long-term camps (14-day) in Mallorca and short camps (7-day) across the French Pyrenees and the French Alps this year. So, if you are planning a trip to Europe, there is no better way to experience it than from your bicycle.
Each route description is detailed on their website, but, in short — all the essentials are covered — accommodation, meals, and support transport in case of any issues along the way. The last point is particularly important: when you are cycling in the mountains safety is key. Imagine being stuck in the mountains during heavy rain — having vehicle support is an absolute must!
The camps run throughout the year, from late February to the end of November. However, short-term camps have limited dates: May 31 – June 7, July 26 – August 3, and August 31 – September 7. So be sure to secure your spot!
Alps Cycling Trip
If you are a big fan of the Tour de France but have only experienced it from the sidelines, it is time to take things up a notch with the Alps Cycling Trip. This exclusive camp runs for just one week — from July 13 to 20 (Sunday to Sunday) in the legendary cols of the French Alps — and offers six groups at two different skill levels.
This tour is more than just cycling through stunning landscapes; it is a full reset for the mind and body. You will get six massages (perfect after a full day’s ride!), comprehensive protection (from a helmet for head to sunscreen for sensitive skin), and a professional photographer and videographer capturing your journey. Plus, the accommodation is top-notch — because details really matter!
And with Valentine’s Day knocking at the door, this could be the perfect gift for your partner (for mine, this definitely works).
Thomson Cycling Camps
These cycling camps take place both in Spain (for those who love mountains and luxury) and Colombia (for those who prefer authentic experiences and stunning valley views). For those who do not know, Colombia is the fastest-growing cycling destination in the world. So, if you are an experienced cyclist searching for something new, this option is for you.
With Thomson Camps it is easy to fall in love with cycling — just spend 10 minutes on their website, and you will be captivated by the breathtaking landscapes, roads, and plains. One more great thing — some tours even cater to non-riding companions. So, if one of you is a cycling enthusiast and the other wants to join without exhausting themselves on mountain climbs, that is totally possible!
TourRadar Camp in Jordan
The best part about TourRadar camps is the perfect mix of cycling and alternative activities — hiking, excursion stops, and even some relaxation by the Red Sea in sunny Aqaba. But the real highlight? The breathtaking views of ancient Amman — it feels like stepping straight into a myth.
Middle Earth Travel in Cappadocia
Have you added Cappadocia’s hot air balloons to your wishlist this year? I bet you have. Now, it is time to take it up a notch — what if you experienced them from your bicycle?
This tour runs almost year-round, from March to October, and lasts 8 days. Of course, it is not just about cycling — you will stay in charming hotels, dine at the best restaurants, and visit hundreds of historical and cultural sites. My suggestion is: check out the photos on their website — I guarantee you will want to book this camp straight away!

Hedonism Cycling Fethiye Camp
Continuing with Turkey, let us talk about Fethiye. No, you will not find hundreds of hot air balloons here — but trust me, there is plenty to see, as Fethiye was home to the very first Turkish cycling camps, opening up the Riviera to hundreds of cyclists.
The next Hedonism cycling camps will take place there from March 21 to 30 and April 4 to 13, with two ride leaders covering both road and gravel routes. Beyond the breathtaking landscapes, expect great company, villa accommodation, and incredible food — think fresh fruit and vegetables, plus Turkey’s ultimate guilty pleasures: kebabs and baklava. Definitely worth trying!
As a little bonus, I asked the Hedonism Team to share some special insights they have gained from hosting previous cycling camps — perfect for those already packing their bags for a cycling tour.
— How important is it to invest in proper cycling gear?
— It is absolutely crucial not to cut corners when it comes to cycling clothing. On long rides — especially during cycling tours — every bit of wind resistance makes a huge difference. Without proper gear, you will tire out much faster. Plus, good kit offers extra benefits like safety (thanks to reflective materials).
— What are three must-have items for a long ride?
— Plenty of water, your favourite snacks, and fully charged devices — both your cycling computer and phone. We also recommend carrying spare inner tubes and a mini pump, so you can quickly fix any issues with your bicycle and keep going.
— What is an unexpected perk of a cycling camp for you?
— For us, the most unexpected thing is just how many incredible people you meet. One day, they are complete strangers, and the next, you are climbing mountains together. But also — the food! You can eat whatever you like, as much as you like, because you will burn it all off on the bike. It is the perfect trip for guilt-free indulgence!
— Are there many beginners on these tours? How difficult is it for first-timers?
— There are usually a few beginners on every tour. Ideally, it is best to do some training beforehand to build endurance and get used to cycling, but if you are new, do not worry! On faster rides, beginners are placed at the back, which reduces wind resistance and makes things roughly 30% easier. Plus, on well-organised tours, there is always a support vehicle, so if you completely run out of energy, you can hop in and take a break.
