Watches & Wonders 2024: The Best Models With Green And Blue Dials

23 Apr 2024

One more episode from our publisher, Sofia Brontvein, covering Watches & Wonders 2024 in Geneva. In this piece, she explores watches that have emerged as major trends in the industry in recent years — those with green and blue dials.

Zenith Defy Skyline Chronograph

One of Zenith's novelties in 2024 is the addition to the Defy Skyline chronograph collection. The manufacturer introduced three models at once — black, silver, and blue versions in a 42mm steel case. When you acquire these watches, you receive both a steel and an integrated rubber bracelet, instantly transforming a rather everyday chronograph into a sporty model. At the heart of this novelty lies perhaps Zenith's most successful mechanism, the El Primero 3600, which beats at 36,000 vibrations per hour and measures time with accuracy to 1/10 of a second. To remind you of the calibre's capabilities, the central second hand completes a full circle every 10 seconds when you engage the chronograph function.

Rolex Deepsea Gold

The Deepsea is Rolex's most professional, massive, and prestigious diver in its portfolio. With a substantial 44 mm case, water resistance up to 3,900 meters, and a reliable titanium RLX case back, few expected Rolex to introduce a new version of the Deepsea in 2024 — made of 18-carat yellow gold with a blue dial and bezel. In this execution, the watch transforms from a highly precise professional tool into a bold statement. However, it retains a hint of vintage flair (reminiscent of archival Submariner models) and elegance, as yellow gold pairs beautifully with an ultramarine dial. It is powered by the calibre 3235 with a 70-hour power reserve and automatic winding.

Cartier Santos-Dumont

We have already told you about the Cartier's main watch novelty this year — the Santos-Dumont Rewind model, where time indication runs backwards. This is a limited collection — only 200 pieces will be available for sale. However, the experimentation with coloured dials doesn't end with the Rewind version. In Geneva, Cartier also unveiled three updates to the Santos-Dumont line — a green model in a platinum case, a grey version in a yellow gold case, and a turquoise one in a rose gold case. These watches feature the in-house caliber 430 and each variant is limited to 200 pieces.

TAG Heuer Carrera Skipper

If you prefer enjoying coastal views from a yacht rather than deep-sea dives during your vacation, take note of the new Carrera Skipper — in 2024, TAG Heuer introduced a version in a 39mm rose gold case. Inspired by the archival 1968 Heuer Skipper model, the watch features chronograph counters in mint, green, and orange hues on a dark blue dial. The novelty is powered by a special version of the Heuer-02 calibre — the TH-20-06 with an improved column wheel and an 80-hour power reserve. With a water resistance of 100 meters, you can confidently jump overboard to refresh after a long sail.

Chopard Alpine Eagle XL Chrono

Concluding the chronograph theme, let's look at Chopard's updated flyback Alpine Eagle XL, which now sports a blue dial with a Rhône motif and a titanium case with a diameter of 44mm. Its precision is ensured by the in-house Chopard 03.05-C movement — a certified chronometer with a 60-hour power reserve. The black chronograph counters and rubber strap complement the celestial blue dial and titanium case perfectly. While the size might be a bit large to call the Alpine Eagle XL an everyday watch, if you appreciate hefty sports models, this is definitely the standout of 2024.
