Can’t Stop Decorating Your Sneakers? Here Is How To Keep Going

9 May 2025

A while back, we were all about decorating our sneakers — hanging all sorts of random things on them, doodling on them however we wanted (remember colouring them in with markers during class?), and constantly experimenting with laces. Whether it was trying out different tying methods (hello, endless YouTube tutorials) or mixing and matching colours (like wearing different laces on each shoe), we were always up for it. That was back in the day. Has anything really changed since then? No, we are still at it.
And recently, adidas only fueled our obsession with decorating sneakers by launching the Loomhood Collection across the MENA region. This limited-edition release reimagines two of its most iconic silhouettes — the Samba OG and Handball Spezial — through the lens of regional craftsmanship. The drop is all about creative expression and customisation, with a big focus on laces — think chunky, knitted, super textured designs that completely change up the look of your kicks.
So, how should you decorate your sneakers? Honestly, however you want. There are endless ways to do it. Here are a few of our favourite ideas.

First off, laces

One of the easiest and most satisfying ways to switch up your sneakers is by changing the laces, and honestly, The Lace Check makes that super fun. They have these bright yellow and pink checkered flat laces that are such a simple upgrade but completely change the vibe of your kicks. They are perfect if your sneakers are starting to feel a bit boring and you want to bring them back to life without doing anything too crazy.
If you are in the mood for something with a bit more of a twist, The Lace Check also has some really cool options like glow-in-the-dark laces and their grey and white “cement” designs.
And if you are in the mood for something really out of the ordinary — and preferably fluffy (it happens!) — there are laces like that too.

Charms: the more, the better

Our beloved Poubel by Gstaad Guy has a great selection. Their silver pendants — tiny paddle rackets, headphones, even mini backgammon boards — look amazing on sneakers (we already want a pair for ourselves). You can easily clip them onto your laces for that extra touch.
The big charm collection is available at Black Pearl Dubai — they are all about charms. We recommend following their Instagram to stay in the loop about workshops where you can decorate your sneakers or make a bracelet. They also have DIY kits for anyone who wants to try making charms at home.
Of course, we had to mention pearl chains and bows — we have spotted them on a bunch of our friends’ sneakers lately. They are super affordable and easy to get your hands on; we actually found a bunch on Amazon.
