adidas Hyperboost Edge Steps Into Dubai’s Running Community

With new Hyperboost Edge colourways arriving on July 21, adidas turns its attention to everyday runners and the communities that keep them coming back.

In Dubai, a community run rarely begins or ends with the actual running. It starts with people arriving half-awake, checking their watches and deciding which pace group they are feeling brave enough to join that morning. Afterwards, there is usually coffee, a conversation about the next race and at least one detailed discussion about running shoes. With these runs, people who may have little else in common begin to build a routine together.

“In a very unstable world, people appreciate having something fixed in their diary,” says Blair from BRP. A weekly run gives them a chance to see their friends, get a high-quality workout in and know that the same people will be there at the same time the following week. That consistency gives their week structure and, Blair believes, helps them excel outside of running too.

Ahndraea, a coach with adidas Runners Dubai, sees the connection happening between people from different countries, cultures and backgrounds. They may arrive with different levels of experience, but they share a reason for being there — ”to move, grow and become stronger.”

For Danny, the founder of SubClub, that sense of community is what keeps both runners and coaches showing up week after week. “The community is everything,” he says. “Seeing people turn up, chasing goals together and genuinely wanting to see each other succeed is what gets me out of bed.”

It is against this backdrop that adidas UAE is introducing two new colourways of the Hyperboost Edge on July 21: HYPER WHITE/SOLAR TURBO for women and WHITE/AURORA ONIX for men. The shoe is designed for everyday road runners, which in practice means people whose weeks rarely consist of only one kind of session. There are easy kilometres, longer weekend runs, track workouts and days when the group suddenly decides to increase the pace.

Danny tested that versatility while preparing for the Boston Marathon, wearing the Hyperboost Edge during SubClub’s Sunday long runs around Mushrif Park. “Having a shoe that is comfortable over the longer miles but still responsive when the pace changes made a real difference,” he says. “It gives me the confidence to lead from the front, move between pace groups and still get quality training in myself.”

Built around Hyperboost Pro foam, the shoe has a 38mm heel, a 6mm drop and an average weight of 247 grams in the men’s version. A lightweight Primeweave upper and LIGHTTRAXION outsole with Continental rubber pods add flexibility and grip.

“There are many shoes that provide cushioning, but not many that can provide cushioning and propulsion at the same time,” says Blair, who sees the Hyperboost Edge as particularly well suited to longer runs with changes of pace.
